A free Postman alternative for testing APIs.

Send REST requests in your browser, switch environments, and save collections as JSON in a GitHub repository you control.

Go from request to response in one workspace.

Build the URL, headers, parameters and JSON body, then inspect status, response time, headers and formatted output.

Example request
GET {{base_url}}/users/octocat
Accept: application/json
Example response
200 OK
{
  "login": "octocat",
  "public_repos": 8
}
Request with variables
GET {{base_url}}/users/octocat
Authorization: Bearer {{api_token}}
Built-in values
$uuid
$timestamp
$randomEmail

Change environments without rewriting requests.

Set values once, then use them in URLs, headers and bodies. Switch from local to staging or production with the same request.

Your collections stay in your repository.

Postrider is a Git-backed REST client that saves requests and environments as JSON on your repository’s api-list branch. Inspect diffs, track changes in Git history, and review updates through your team’s GitHub workflow.

Frequently asked questions

Is Postrider free?

Yes. Open the browser workspace and start sending requests for free. Connect a GitHub repository when you want to save collections and environments.

Can my team review collection changes in pull requests?

Collections are ordinary JSON files on the api-list branch. Your team can inspect diffs and use GitHub pull requests to review changes through its existing Git workflow. Saving in Postrider writes to api-list; it does not automatically open a pull request.

What is Postrider?

Postrider is a free, web-based REST API client. You build and send HTTP requests, inspect responses, and save collections to a GitHub repository.

Is Postrider a Postman alternative?

It covers the core of sending and organising API requests, in the browser and with Git-backed storage. It does not include scripting, mock servers or monitors. See the Postman comparison for details.

Do I need an account?

You can open the workspace and send requests straight away. To save collections you sign in with GitHub or use a personal access token.

Where is my data stored?

Saved collections and environments live as plain JSON files in your GitHub repository on the api-list branch. Browser storage also keeps local preferences, request history and environment values. Postrider does not use a proprietary collection database.
